Well my little pocket camcorder has arrived and is charging as I type, I also have received my gorilla-pod tripod as well. Both deliveries occurred within half an hour of each other.

I have my Physiotherapy Appointment at the hospital just before 3pm, and another therapy – this time with the Occupational therapist – at the main hospital tomorrow afternoon at 3.15pm.

As my SD card hasn’t arrived yet, the estimate is Friday/Saturday for it’s delivery, I can’t do much taping with the cam at the moment as the internal memory is only 128 MB. So I’ll just be learning the ropes so to speak until I get my memory card through and installed into the cam.

I’ve read a few books over the last month or so which I need to get reviews up on. My inability to write more than a couple of paragraphs at a time made this impossible to really get my reviews done to the my own minimum specifications for any review.

I believe if you can’t do something right I shouldn’t do it at all. A brief review not giving any real back up to my rating/grade isn’t any good as it doesn’t tell the reader why I decided on that particular rating and such.

I don’t like reading reviews that just say, “this book is *insert words*” and think that’s an adequate review. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of writing a review at all. No explanation just an brief blank statement. Valid as it’s the posters opinion but no real use to anyone reading as there is no information or background to help support/explain this statement. To be such reviews aren’t reviews they are straight forward statements.

But as my hands are beginning to hurt quite a bit I’ll sign off here for now.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

I must apologise once again for the sheer lack of updates on my book blog. I am just barely a month into my dual therapies at two different hospitals because of my degenerative condition.

Add to that the fact my hands have been quite badly affected and degenerated to less than 10% of the strength/grip/ability that they should have. So I am unable to type more than a few lines without a lot of pain and stiffness.

So I am been looking at alternatives to typing up a textual review, I’ve tried to create either audio or video reviews to post rather than posting nowt, and I’ve had little or no real quality success in either efforts.

So I’m looking at using my little pocket cam which I am awaiting delivery of to see if I can at least create better quality video which I might be able to embed here and avoid having to type – or attempt to type – up my full review.

I mainly have got it, or rather am waiting for it, because I like to audio or video record my personal diary, this I’ve managed to do since I can’t write/type my journal any longer. So maybe I can look to doing the main review as a video and just post it with a quick recap into posts.

I’m not sure for now but hopefully I have explained my continued absence from a blog I really love running. Or did enjoy running while able to but hope to return to fully someday.

I’ve decided to add a special monthly post to catalogue the romance novels I receive through my subscriptions to the Mills & Boon Reader’s Service.

Generally it seems my subscription books tend to be 2 months in advance of the official release date. So January’s delivery is of books from March 2012 releases.

Currently I have 2 different series on subscription, Cherish and Modern. Cherish is the combination of several prior imprints. In 2009 Super Romance and Special Edition combined into one imprint called Special Moments. Then barely a year on Special Moments was rebranded as Cherish, I think if I remember correctly another imprint was also merged with the previous Special Moments – a combined imprint itself – but can’t remember which.

But on with this month’s list:

Modern Titles (March 2012 releases)

Lynne Graham – Roccanti’s Marriage Revenge

Sandra Morton – Sheikh Without a Heart

Kate Walker – The Devil and Miss Jones

Anne McAllister – Sava’s Wildcat

Cherish Titles (March 2012)

Single Titles:

Gina Wilkins – A Home For The M.D.

Stella Bagwell – Daddy’s Double Duty

Karen Templeton – Husband Under Construction

Double Titles:

Rebecca Winters – A Bride for the Island Prince

&

Sarah Mayberry – The Last Goodbye

Donna Alward – How A Cowboy Stole Her Heart

&

Allison Leigh – The Rancher’s Dance

I also receive 1 By Request 3-in-1 reissue which is part of my Cherish subscription.

By Request (March 2012)

His Suitable Bride

Cathy Williams – Rafael’s Suitable Bride

Abby Green – The Spaniard’s Marriage Bargain

Kate Walker – Cordero’s Forced Bride

So there is the subscription titles I received in January’s package, March 2012 releases, and here ends my first monthly subscription post.

Well it’s 2012 and the New Year has begun, so even though it’s a few days late I wish you all a happy new year and all the best for the coming year.

Upon logging into my dashboard I find that wordpress needed to update again, it doesn’t seem long since the last update just before Christmas I believe, deactivated the ‘let it snow’ plugin and checked for other updates.

So here I am a plugin, wordpress update and 7 other updates later raring to go.

So what’s in the cards for The Crimson Inkpot in 2012? Well my book blog is officially a year old as I launched it in January 2011, in the first couple of days of the year if I’m remembering correctly.

As for my plans for the blog in the coming year I have some, I’m keeping my plans fluid to not make it stressful on my health. Since around June/July 2011 I have been suffering badly with flare-ups of my RA and Fibromyalgia. On December 22nd I had my physiotherapy assessment but am still awaiting my Occupational Therapy assessment which I was actually referred for not physiotherapy, so I am beginning to worry that someone my referral to the OT has fallen through the cracks and been overlooked.

But that doesn’t answer the question of the future on TCI does it?!

I am currently typing on a new – and expensive – Microsoft ergonomic keyboard which hopefully will make inputting text whether on my blogs or for generally surfing/searching online less painful on my joints.

So in 2012 I hope to begin updating more often, naturally! I have been given access to my Mother’s new laptop so when I am too ill to sit at my desktop I will have access online and to update my blog(s) when I am under the proverbial weather.

I have been lining up my books that I wish to review for my blog and hope also to take part in the blog hops once again. I am trying to find the easiest way to review including narrating my reviews onto my iPod and dictate them for typing up for posting. Allowing me to take note of my thoughts on a particular book as I go along taking the strain off the actually reviewing part.

On my digital reader – or I should say readers – I have quite a pile of books to get to work on including:

Maya Banks latest KGI book released only in the last couple of days. Before reading it though I’ll track down the other earlier titles and catch up rather than go into a series a few books down, I hate to do that. I also am currently reading Lora Leigh’s latest breeds book which came out last month, unfortunately I was interrupted by RL and my family over the festive season. I also have several Christmas themed books which I won’t review now as I am not into festive titles after Christmas so as I read these novellas (which most of them are) and I’ll compose my reviews and keep them in stock for either a lull in my review schedule or keep in store of Christmas 2012 instead.

A few days later, I’ve been offline a bit over the past couple of weeks, I found out that Penny Jordan had passed away on December 31st 2011 at the young age of 65 after a long battle with cancer. My thoughts and best wishes go out to her family and friends at this difficult time. Strangely enough the 31st was the anniversary of my Grandfather’s passing as well, only he passed over 35 years ago now. In fact he is one of my earliest, if not my earliest, memory and I was just a toddler when he passed but he is one of the only real early ‘memory’ I have.

Penny Jordan was one of my first real romance writers I read when I first began reading romance novels in the early 80′s as a teenager. She as well as Carole Mortimer, Robyn Donald and Anne Mather were my first real introduction to the genre.

I think I’ll be sure to put a couple of Penny’s books on the top of my list for review.
